Collaboration With Simplified Billing
Science depends on collaboration, but managing compute costs across multiple researchers means juggling separate accounts and balances. We're pleased to announce Teams to let research groups simplify their billing on Ariax Bio.
How Teams Work
Teams provide a shared credit pool that any member can draw from when running jobs. One team owner manages billing; everyone else focuses on science.
Creating a Team
Any Ariax user can create a team in seconds:
- Navigate to the Team page from your dashboard
- Click Create Team and enter a name and URL-friendly slug (e.g.,
group-name) - Optionally transfer your existing personal balance to the team
- You're now the team owner with full administrative control
Your team slug becomes a simple identifier that colleagues can use to request access—no need to share invitation links.
Joining a Team
Members can join through two paths:
- Invitation: Owners and admins invite members directly by email. The invitee receives a notification and can accept or decline.
- Request: Anyone with your team slug can request to join. Admins/owners review and approve requests.
When joining, members can choose to transfer their personal credit balance to the team pool or keep it as a personal reserve.
Roles and Permissions
Teams support three roles:
| Role | Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control: billing, auto top-up, member management, team deletion |
| Admin | Invite members, approve requests, remove members |
| Member | Run jobs using team credits, view team info |
Owners can promote members to admin or demote admins back to member status at any time.
Shared Billing in Action
Once you're on a team, the billing context automatically switches. Your dashboard shows the team balance, and all job costs draw from the shared pool. Individual members can still maintain a personal reserve balance—credits you had before joining that you can retain if you leave the team, or transfer to the team at a later date.
Team owners can configure Auto Top-Up for the team, ensuring the shared balance never runs dry mid-experiment. Set a threshold and top-up amount, and Ariax handles the rest.
Transferring Credits
Have credits in your personal account? Any team member can transfer their personal balance to the team at any time:
- Go to the Team page
- Click Transfer to Team from the Personal Reserve section
- Enter the amount and confirm
Credits move instantly from your personal balance to the team pool.
Safety Rails
We've built in safeguards to prevent accidental disruption:
- Running jobs block team changes: You can't create, join, leave, or be removed from a team while you have active jobs. This prevents billing context switches mid-run.
- Owner protection: Team owners cannot leave—they must delete the team or transfer ownership first.
- Credit return on dissolution: If an owner deletes the team, the remaining team balance returns to their personal account.
Getting Started
Teams are available now for all Ariax users. Head to the Team page in your dashboard to create your first team or request to join an existing one.
For research groups managing multiple concurrent protein design campaigns, Teams eliminates the overhead of coordinating individual accounts. Pool your resources, streamline your billing, and let your team focus on what matters: designing proteins that work.
